We make the earth greener by recycling cans and bottles. All the money we earn from redemption goes to pay for scholarships to send young musicians to Junior Fife and Drum Camp. But, that's not all we do!
At Musters
- Collect cans and bottles (join our collection teams by signing up on our Facebook Page.)
- Sort into plastic, glass, and tin (join our sorting party on Sunday morning of all major musters – you’ll find us at the giant mound of cans and bottles)
- Transport & Redeem at redemption centers (often we drive to a comprehensive redemption center that takes all of our cans and bottles, sometimes we use the machines at Supermarkets)
- Send check to Camp (c/o Camp Director Cap Corduan 288 Walton Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Checks are made out to the Company of F&D Junior Camp with "GREEN TEAM" noted in the memo.) It's also helpful to send an email to GreenTeamforFifeandDrum@gmail.com alerting us to your generous gift, then we can add you to our tracker and this site!
Got cases? Special Green Team Bonus Points given to anyone who brings us cans and bottles in cases! This is especially helpful for glass bottles – but we’re grateful for any thoughtful repackaging you might do of your redeemables. Have extra cardboard cases we can fill? Bring them by any time.
Individually or in small groups
Some of us also collect cans and bottles at home or other events and present the Camp with what we’ve raised – it all adds up and every little bit counts!
Crazy ways to make money for camp
Reach beyond the recycling effort. A few enterprising campers (now alums) have been finding other creative, fun (and funny!) ways to raise money for camp. Simon Rubenstein and Mat and Devon Enos launched a Shave-a-thon and raised a full scholarship in 2014 and another one in 2015 at DRAM. Then Mat and Devon also built a drum and raffled it off for a whole season! In honor of our fearless Director, Cap Corduan's, big birthday, William Diamond helped us make a big splash at their muster and we passed the hat around the crowd and raised another full scholarship. Skip Healy just blessed us with a freshly made 10-hole Healy Fife to help raise money this year. And Greg Bacon and John Ciaglia just published a brand new book of music and are raising funds for and awareness of Camp by donating a portion of their proceeds to a scholarship fund.
Choose your own adventure!
There is no limit to the creative ways you can help advance the cause, spread the word, help us raise money for camp – pick your path and join our ranks!
We love everyone who is spreading the word and pitching in to help in whatever ways they can. Thank you for promoting the best of the values of our Fife & Drum community and for investing in our future.
